Things To Do Before I Die (in no particular order)
I'm not trying to be morbid or anything, but it's good think about one's
mortality from time to time, and decide whether we are accomplishing
what we want to accomplish in life. To that end, I provide my list
of things to do before I die. These are all physical things. I'm not
including various life or spiritual events here.
Hike The Grand Canyon done
- Bungee Jump (preferably in New Zealand. I had thought that the tallest
one was there, but someone said on my blog
that the tallest one is in South Africa)
- Tour the ruins of Egypt. I've wanted to do this ever since learning about Egyptian
history in high school.
- Sky Dive
- Climb Pikes Peak (and other Colorado 14ers) Hopefully this will be accomplished
sooner rather than later.
- Climb Mount Rainier
- Climb Mount Kilimanjaro. The snows are melting. This one needs to be done soon.
- See Mt. Everest - No desire to climb it. Ideally, I'd spend a season at
Base Camp helping out one of the climbing expeditions.
- Get my private pilot's license. Not cheap. But then, most of these aren't.
- See New England In The Autumn
- Go up Mount Washington. Most violent weather on earth.
- See Bavaria in Germany
- See Switzerland
Compete in a marathon. Really just being in condition to compete would be great.
If I do one, I could then qualify for the Boston Marathon if I'm really lucky. I
haven't yet qualified for Boston, but I ran in the Bayshore
2007 marathon in Traverse City, Michigan and the Lakefront Marathon
in Milwaukee in the fall of 2007.
- See the launch of a human-carrying vehicle into space. This could be
the space shuttle or something else.
- Burning Man
- See a sitting president
- See the Northern Lights [Aurora Borealis] (preferably from Alaska)
- Eat Key Lime pie in Key West, Florida
- Descend into El Sótano (de El Barro) in Querétaro Mexico (410 meter rappel) Deep
pit. No direct sunlight hits the bottom.
